5 Different Mullet Styles That Are Trending Now
14 January 2022 | UncategorisedWhat is mullet hair?
Those who lived through the 80s will know the mullet like the back of their hand (whether you liked it or not!). Some may turn their nose up at this old trend, but it took the world by storm in 2021 and is only getting more popular in 2022.
So, what is mullet hair? The mullet is a style in which the front and sides of the hair are cut much shorter than the back of the hair. We really are talking business in the front, party in the back.
You might be thinking, “well, why would I want this, it sounds awful”. If you remember mullets from the 80s, you might even feel nauseous.
But we’re here to tell you that the mullet really has had a makeover. Mullets can look edgy, punk or even delicate depending on the style you choose. There’s a mullet style out there for everyone! Here, we’ll prove it to you:
5 Different mullet styles that are on-trend right now
The feathered mullet
The feathered mullet is a classic, taken straight from the 80s yet made to look promisingly modern.
You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the light yet voluminous effect of this mullet. The ends of the hair are softened which adds incredible height and texture to the cut
If you want the exact mullet shape, but love your hair looking light and flowy, the feathered mullet is for you.

The wolf cut
Some might argue that the wolf cut is more shag than mullet, but we see an effortless combination of both.
The wolf haircut is created with short and long, choppy and textured layers running through the hair. We put emphasis on the layers, as this cut really is all about those beautiful layers that add insane volume and movement.
To get the full effect of the wolf cut, you’ll need hair that is already bob length or longer.
If you have long locks and would love to include a hint of the mullet in your style, then a wolf cut is a no brainer for you.

The curly mullet
This next mullet style will have you looking like you hopped on a time machine straight to the 80s. If you’re already going to commit to a mullet, curly hair will really top it off!
The truth is, you can’t beat a mullet with curly hair. Curls fall perfectly with the layers of a mullet, making your hair appear thicker, bouncier and 100x more nostalgic.
If you want your curls to be formed perfectly for your mullet, we recommend a nano keratin treatment to smooth them out. Or, let your hair go wild with your mullet by keeping au naturel!

The layered mullet
You may be thinking, aren’t all mullets layered? Well, you would be correct, but for the layered mullet, we take layers to new levels (literally).
With the layered mullet, we like to keep longer pieces at the very back, which help to accentuate the shorter pieces at the front. This gives a dishevelled look, in the best way possible.
The best thing about this cut is that you can let the mullet do the talking, as you won’t have to worry much about styling. Perfect for those who love low-maintenance styles.

The blunt bangs mullet
Out of our different mullet styles, the blunt bangs mullet is definitely the boldest. It gives more “rock concert in the front” as opposed to “business”. If you love a cut with a punk, edgy feel, this is right up your alley.
Instead of feathering the bangs section of your mullet, we take scissors and give them a blunt end, going straight across your forehead. The contrast between the blunt bangs and the rest of the hair make this cut seriously funky.
