Balayage Hertford

All you need to know about Balayage

Balayage is a trend that’s here to stay. At Tierney Salons, we’ve perfected the art of creating stunning balayage looks.

Our favourite part of the day is looking at freshly created styles and the reflections of the new highlights created on gentle waves. If you’re keen to learn more, we’ve prepared an article to answer the most common questions about balayage hair.

How to pronounce balayage?

Let’s start with the basics. How do you pronounce balayage correctly? This question seems to bother many, as you can even find videos on YouTube that will teach you the correct pronunciation. Simply put, there are two ways to say balayage, pronouncing it either bah-lee-ahge or bah-lay-ahge.

What is balayage?

As we’ve said in our previous blog, a balayage has earned the right to be amongst the greatest techniques of all time.

To achieve this very natural, sun-kissed look, the highlights are hand-painted. Your hairdresser will use a sweeping technique to apply the colour to your hair, which will result in less stripy results than traditional highlights.

How long does balayage take?

This depends on the look you’re hoping to achieve.

If you’re looking for a real pop of colour to accentuate your face, add an hour onto your hair cut appointment.

For a total transformation, your stylist can lovingly hand-paint individual sections which will take about the same time as a traditional full head of foils

If you frequently put your hair up, a layered balayage could be the better choice. This might take up to three hours. Feel free to give us a call before booking your appointment and we can discuss the best technique based on your hair type and expectations.

How long does balayage last?

Balayage gives your hair a very natural finish. Just like the highlights you used to have as a kid after a long summer vacation under the sun.

This means the highlights won’t look grown out too quickly and you won’t need frequent 6-week touch-ups. In contrast to a full head colour, you can maintain it up to 3 to 4 months between your appointments. A big advantage if you don’t have time to visit the salon every few weeks.

How much does balayage cost?

Again, this depends on the results you’re hoping to achieve. Here at Tierney Salons in Hertford, you can book a balayage service with a senior designer starting from £120.

Please note that if you’re new to the salon, we’ll also ask you to do a colour patch test in advance to avoid an allergic reaction.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions. We’ll also happily provide a free consultation for you on other colour options. Give us a call or simply use our online booking system to make your next appointment.
