What Does Olaplex Do To Your Hair?
19 April 2021 | TreatmentsHave you heard of any products that can repair your compromised hair and can protect it during a colouring service? We certainly have and it’s called Olaplex. And if you’re looking for Olaplex in Hertfordshire, we have you covered! Here’s everything you need to know about this incredible treatment.
What Is An Olaplex Hair Treatment?
So, what is an Olaplex hair treatment? Olaplex is a treatment system that permanently rebuilds chemically damaged and compromised hair. If your hair has gone through years of bleaching or colouring, Olaplex will reverse the damaged caused by this. In fact, it is considered to be a bonder, which means it repairs damaged bonds in the hair to leave it smoother, shinier and healthier, with a stronger structure and integrity than before.
It works because of the patented ingredient Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate (now that’s a tongue twister!). This means that you won’t get the same results with any other product, which is exactly why we always recommend adding Olaplex to your colouring service.
How We Apply Olaplex At The Salon
Olaplex is a multi-step treatment, so there are a few stages to the application process. Olaplex No.1 and Olaplex No.2 are exclusively for professional use, so your hair will only be blessed with these products at the salon.
We start by adding Olaplex No.1 directly to the developer, which is then mixed with the colour or lightener that will be used. This helps to prevent chemical damage during the colour service.
After being applied and left for the appropriate amount of time, the bleach or colour is then rinsed and the hair is shampooed. Olaplex No.2 is now worked through the damp hair and left for 10-30 minutes. Your stylist will then shampoo and condition your hair to rinse it out.
You will be shocked at the condition of your hair after finishing with a beautiful blowdry. When we say Olaplex works like magic, we mean it!
Can You Use Olaplex at Home?
Your Olaplex treatments do not have to stop in the salon, and by now you won’t be able to get enough of it! There are aftercare products available to buy so you can use them at home between appointments.
Olaplex No.3 is pretty much an at-home version of No.2. It is applied to damp hair and then washed out with shampoo and conditioner. And what better shampoo and conditioner to use than Olaplex No.4 and 5, which repair and protect the hair.

Are Olaplex Treatments Good For Your Hair?
You may be thinking that Olaplex sounds too good to be true. But there is no catch with Olaplex. The treatments will never damage your hair, no matter how often you use it. Your hair will only ever reap the benefits of Olaplex, although using it too often is unnecessary.
Olaplex is amazing for hair that has been chemically damaged or has even been subject to breakage caused by heat, brushing or UV exposure.
Is Olaplex Curly Girl Friendly?
Yes – Olaplex is made to work with all hair types and textures. In fact, the curly hair community loves it, as not only does it reduce frizz and protect the hair, but it also enhances the natural curl pattern of the hair.
